My name is Abena Boamah-Acheampong, M.Ed and I am a creative entrepreneur, mental health advocate, and founder of Hanahana Beauty. I started Hanahana beauty in 2017 while teaching high school algebra and social justice in Chicago and getting my master’s in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University. I am driven by curating learning experiences and I’m unapologetic about identities through all forms of my work. The mission I have of Hanahana beauty is inextricably linked to my personal ethos of being transparent, mindful, and creating an accessible brand that resonates with black people, particularly women to see themselves reflected and celebrated. In the past three years I have been able to intentionally build a community around the USA, Canada, UK, France, Ghana both physically and online spanning over 20,000 people. Alongside hanahana, I continue to work with brands such as TedxTube, Chase Bank, Nike, Apple, Bon Appetit, The Wing, Refinery 29, Glossier, and more.
